AMURT Africa successfully conducted a Resource Mobilisation, Corporate Governance, and Grants Compliance Management Capacity Building Workshop for AMURT and partner organization Board Members, including TEAM WOFAK (Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya), in Kilifi, Kenya, from 6–8 November 2023.

The three-day capacity-building programme was designed to strengthen institutional leadership, enhance governance standards, and improve compliance with donor and grant management requirements. The workshop brought together Board Members and senior representatives from AMURT and its partner organisations to deepen their understanding of strategic oversight, fiduciary responsibilities, and sustainable resource mobilisation.

Key focus areas included:
a. Principles of effective corporate governance and Board effectiveness.
b. Resource mobilisation strategies for organisational sustainability.
c. Grants compliance management, donor accountability, and risk mitigation.
d. Strengthening Board roles in policy oversight, transparency, and ethical leadership.

Through facilitated sessions, practical discussions, and peer learning, participants examined best practices aligned with international NGO standards and donor expectations. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of Boards in ensuring strong governance frameworks, financial integrity, and long-term organisational resilience.

The participation of TEAM WOFAK (Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya) reinforced the importance of collaborative partnerships in advancing accountable, inclusive, and impactful programming, especially in the areas of health, community development, and women’s empowerment.

This capacity-building initiative underscores AMURT Africa’s commitment to strengthening leadership and governance systems across its network, ensuring effective programme delivery, compliance, and sustainable impact for the communities it serves.
